Sunday was a “fat morning,” a grasse matinee. After going to bed at 2 AM, we needed
some rest. We had a light
breakfast and later a very nice “buffet compagnard.” The weather was beautiful although windy, but we ate
outside. Interestingly it was was
windy at this time last year when Les gardes hosted their “Fete de Vent,” the
festival of winds. In fact, it was
so windy last year that the hot air balloons could not be released! This year it was windy again. The top of the hill was full of kites
and huge air socks. There was
entertainment that really kept us amused, but we just really enjoyed the
atmosphere. Vicki could not go
because of grading and Reginald went to pick up Sandy Hooper at 4 PM, so it was
just Dan, Gabi, and me. After we
returned, we got busy with a very nice dinner of rolled roast beef, French
green beans, and Noirmoutier potatoes baked over Guerande salt. For dessert, we had a delicious apricot
tarte thanks to Vicki.
